Voodoo Brewing Grand Opening (Friends & Family) October 23, 2026
Herndon has a new place to raise a glass. On Friday, October 23, 2026, I had the pleasure of photographing the friends and family grand opening of Voodoo Brewing, the day before the doors opened to the public on Saturday, October 24. It was a great chance to capture the first moments of a brand new neighborhood gathering spot.
Voodoo Brewing now occupies the ground floor of the Makers Rise building at 2311 Dulles Station Blvd, close to the Innovation Center Metro station. The brewpub spans about 3,750 square feet, with roughly 143 seats indoors and another 40 on the outdoor patio, giving guests plenty of room to settle in with friends, family, and coworkers.
Voodoo was founded in 2005 by Matt Allyn in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and has grown mainly through franchising since 2017. The Herndon location is its second in Virginia, following the Virginia Beach brewpub that opened in 2024. The beer lineup includes West Coast IPAs like Good Vibes and Lil Vibes, a light lager called Empty Calories, a fruited Belgian tripel named Voodoo Love Child, and Oh Mama, a golden American lager brewed in Pittsburgh in collaboration with the rock band Styx. A full bar adds wine, sparkling options, and seasonal cocktails, including fall flavors like apple cider and cinnamon.
The menu leans into pub favorites, including hand-stretched pizzas, hand-formed smash burgers, and chicken wings. The kitchen is led by executive chef Jarroun Durrette, who previously worked with franchise owner John Curry Lee at Honor Brewing Company in Fairfax. Lee, a Virginia Tech graduate with about seven years in the brewing industry, is bringing Voodoo to Herndon with an eye toward the community. The business hosts weekly trivia on Tuesdays, and has plans for live music, DJs, stand-up comedy, and more.
Voodoo Brewing is open 11 a.m. to midnight on weekends and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
